How Pure Image Brought World-Class Smart Home Technology to Victoria
June 26, 2026
Some companies grow by chasing markets. Pure Image grew by following the homes.
When Drew founded Pure Image in Vancouver in 2005, the vision was straightforward: bridge the gap between the technology people want and the simplicity they need to actually enjoy it. Twenty years later, that mission hasn’t changed — but the scale of what we do, and where we do it, has grown into something none of us could have predicted in those early days.
Today we’re a team of 60+ specialists across Vancouver, Whistler, Victoria and Calgary, working on some of the most beautiful and complex homes and commercial spaces in Western Canada. But the story of how we grew our presence on Vancouver Island — and why Victoria felt like a natural next chapter — is one we’re proud to tell.

Building Something That Lasts
From the beginning, Pure Image was never about moving fast and cutting corners. We built our reputation project by project, client by client, earning trust the hard way — by showing up, doing the work properly, and staying around long after the job was done.
That approach attracted a certain kind of client. Homeowners who cared deeply about their spaces. Builders and architects who had a vision and needed a technology partner who could match it. People who understood that the difference between a good smart home and a great one isn’t the equipment — it’s the team behind it.

Over two decades we’ve become one of Canada’s most credentialed smart home integration companies. We are a Platinum Elite Crestron Dealer — one of only 20 in the world and the only company in Canada on the Crestron Dealer Board. These aren’t just credentials on a wall. They represent thousands of hours of training, programming, installation and aftercare across hundreds of projects.
Why Victoria & Vancouver Island
Victoria found us as much as we found it. As our reputation grew in Vancouver and Whistler, clients started asking us to follow their projects across the water. Architects and builders working on high-end residences in Oak Bay, Rockland and the Saanich Peninsula wanted the same level of technology integration they were seeing in Vancouver’s finest homes. And Victoria’s unique character — heritage estates that demand sensitivity, waterfront properties with breathtaking views, luxury yachts moored at the Inner Harbour, and the particular pace of island living — made smart home technology not just desirable but a natural fit for how people live here.
In 2023 we established our Victoria presence, bringing Shaun Smith onto the team as our dedicated Territory Manager for Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Shaun brings extensive experience across high-end residential projects, luxury yachts and commercial spaces — specialising in environments where quality and discretion matter equally. Having someone who understands the island market and its clients — not just someone who takes the ferry occasionally — changed everything about how we serve Victoria homeowners and businesses.

What Smart Home Technology Means in Victoria
A Victoria property has a character all of its own. From the grand heritage estates of Rockland and Uplands to sleek waterfront homes along the Saanich Peninsula, and even luxury yachts moored at the Inner Harbour — the homes and vessels here have a quality and refinement that demands technology to match. Not technology that dominates a space, but technology that disappears into it — working quietly, seamlessly and beautifully in the background of everyday life.

We’ve worked on luxury residences and commercial spaces throughout Greater Victoria and Vancouver Island — projects that required full Crestron home automation tying together lighting, climate, audio visual, motorized shading and security into one seamless system. Properties where Lutron lighting control and Ketra tunable lighting transform how a space feels throughout the day. Waterfront homes where Sonance architectural audio fills every room — indoors, outdoors, on the deck overlooking the water — with sound that genuinely surprises people the first time they hear it. And for our marine clients, technology systems aboard luxury yachts that demand the same precision and reliability as any high-end residence, in a far more demanding environment.
The Technology Behind Island Living
The brands we bring to Victoria aren’t chosen by accident. Every system we specify and install has been chosen because it performs flawlessly, looks beautiful and lasts.
Crestron gives our clients complete, seamless control over every system in their home — or their vessel — from anywhere in the world. Lutron delivers lighting scenes and whisper-quiet motorized shading that respond intelligently to time of day, sunlight and personal preference. Control4 unifies everything into an intuitive interface the whole family can use. Sonance and Sonos bring music alive throughout the entire home. And when a client wants a cinematic experience — a dedicated home theatre with 4K projection, Dolby Atmos surround sound and Kaleidescape — we build it from the ground up, engineered specifically for their space.

What makes the difference in Victoria isn’t just the equipment. It’s having a local team that responds quickly, services systems properly, and builds lasting relationships with the builders, architects, designers and marine professionals shaping the finest properties on Vancouver Island.
What’s Next
Twenty years in, we’re more excited about what we do than ever. Victoria and Vancouver Island continue to grow as one of Canada’s most desirable places to live — and the homes being built and renovated here are more ambitious and more beautiful than anything we’ve seen before. We’re proud to be part of that story — and proud to be the team that Victoria’s most discerning homeowners, builders and architects trust to bring their vision to life.
