Luxury Home Theatre
A great home theatre isn’t just a screen and speakers in a room — it’s a feeling. The lights dim, the screen comes alive, the sound wraps around you, and for a couple of hours nothing else exists.

Plan Your Home TheatreOur Home Theatre Design & Installation Approach
The Screen →
Projector or direct-view, sized to the room and the seating distance rather than the biggest option available.
Seating →
Rows positioned for sightlines and sound, tiered where the room allows, in a finish that suits the space.
Sound Treatment →
Acoustic panels and absorption worked into the design — the part nobody sees and everybody hears.
Effortless Control →
One button dims the lights, drops the screen, switches the inputs and starts the film. No stack of remotes.
Star Ceilings →
Fibre-optic ceilings and cove lighting that set the room before the film starts, and disappear once it does.
Design & Engineering →
Room proportions, sightlines and speaker placement modelled before anything is ordered or built.
Installation →
Our own technicians, coordinated with your trades — no subcontractors on site.
Calibration →
Picture and sound tuned in the finished room, with the seating and treatment in place. A drawing can’t do this part.
The Screen: Centerpiece of Your Cinema
Every unforgettable home theatre begins with the perfect display. At Pure Image, we design around your room and your vision — whether that’s an ultra-large TV, a hidden projector with a motorized screen, or a breathtaking MicroLED video wall.
Ultra-Large TVs: Immerse yourself in vibrant 4K and 8K OLED or QLED panels that reveal rich color, deep contrast and razor-sharp detail. Ideal for living rooms or multi-purpose spaces, these displays bring every film, game and stream to life with striking clarity.
Projectors & Motorized Screens: Recreate the magic of the cinema with 120-inch-plus screens and professional-grade projectors from Sony, JVC or Barco. Expert calibration ensures exceptional brightness, contrast and image fidelity for a true big-screen experience.

MicroLED Video Walls: For the ultimate statement, a seamless MicroLED video wall delivers unmatched brightness, color accuracy and scale. Whether you select Planar or Quantum, these walls provide jaw-dropping visuals and immersive realism for luxury theatres, media rooms and flexible entertainment spaces.
Kaleidescape: For content that matches your screen, nothing comes close to Kaleidescape — the gold standard in high-fidelity movie servers. Where streaming compresses and compromises, Kaleidescape delivers the full studio master: perfect picture, lossless audio, every time. Once you’ve watched a film on Kaleidescape, streaming feels like a step backwards.
Seating: Where Comfort Meets Cinema
The best picture and sound in the world can’t compensate for an uncomfortable seat. Seating is one of the most personal elements of a home theatre — and one of the most important. Get it wrong and no matter how extraordinary the screen or how immersive the sound, the experience falls short.
At Pure Image, we work with Elite Seating to design and specify theatre seating that matches your room, your aesthetic and the way you actually watch. From classic reclining chairs with integrated cup holders and power headrests, to bespoke modular sofas that feel as at home in a living room as a dedicated screening room — every seat is positioned for optimal sightlines and acoustics. The front row and the back row deliver the same exceptional experience.
Because a home theatre should be a place you never want to leave — and that starts with where you sit.

We worked with Pure Image for our home theatre and they were amazing throughout the process, from walking through potential design options to installation and troubleshooting some unexpected challenges along the way. Throughout it all, they were incredibly responsive and we are super happy with the end result. I would recommend them to anyone for a home theatre project.
Sound Treatment: Power Without Compromise
Immersive, room-filling audio is exhilarating — but not if you have to turn it down to avoid disturbing family or neighbors. At Pure Image, we go beyond designing exceptional systems: we engineer the space itself. Our acoustic treatments and sound-isolation techniques keep powerful sound where it belongs, delivering full impact inside the theatre while maintaining peace throughout the rest of your home.
Every room has its own acoustic fingerprint. Reverberation — the way sound bounces and decays within a space — is one of the most critical factors in perceived audio quality. We target precise RT60 values calibrated specifically for your room’s dimensions and materials, ensuring dialogue stays clear, bass stays controlled and the overall sound feels natural rather than fatiguing. Bass trapping addresses the low frequencies that accumulate in corners and room boundaries, creating uneven response that makes some seats boom while others feel thin. Combined with carefully balanced diffusion and absorption — scattering harsh reflections while controlling excess energy — the result is a room where the same exceptional audio experience is delivered to every seat, not just the sweet spot.
We partner with specialized audio physicists to design custom soundproofing and isolation solutions for your space. From decoupled walls and framing materials to room geometry and air gap design, every element is engineered with advanced materials and scientifically proven techniques to achieve flawless isolation and balanced sound.
Go ahead — turn it up. With a Pure Image-engineered room, you can enjoy the full impact of your system without disturbing the rest of the home or the neighbors.
Effortless Control With One Touch
True luxury in a home theatre is effortless control — where every element responds instantly at the touch of a button. Picture pressing a single command as the projector powers on, the screen glides into place, the lights fade to the perfect level for movie night, the shades close, the HVAC adjusts to your preferred temperature and your Kaleidescape or Apple TV cues up ready to play. That’s the elegance of a properly automated theatre — and it happens before you’ve even sat down.
By integrating industry-leading platforms like Control4 and Crestron, we program custom scenes tailored to exactly how you use your theatre. A “Movie Night” scene dims the Lutron lighting to the perfect level, drops the motorized shades, powers on the display and sets the volume. A “Sports” scene brings the lights up, switches the source and adjusts the sound profile. A “Goodnight” scene powers everything down with a single tap. Every scene is programmed specifically for your system, your room and your habits.

Our systems deliver ultimate convenience through a single, intuitive point of control — whether you prefer a dedicated Crestron or Control4 remote, your smartphone or a wall-mounted touchscreen. Each Pure Image home theatre is meticulously programmed for seamless performance, letting you command the entire setup with effortless precision.
Say goodbye to a clutter of remotes and hello to a smarter, streamlined way to enjoy entertainment. With Pure Image, simplicity and sophistication meet in every experience.
Star Ceiling: Your Own Personal Night Sky
Handcrafted in Vancouver, BC, our custom star ceilings bring the magic of a night sky indoors. Each installation is precisely tailored to your room’s dimensions, creating a breathtaking canopy of light that feels infinite. Hundreds of individually placed fibre-optic strands shimmer and twinkle like a living galaxy, adding depth and wonder to any space — whether it’s a home theatre, a child’s bedroom or a serene retreat. The result is an immersive, celestial experience that transforms the entire room.

When powered down, the ceiling presents a sleek, seamless black finish. With a single tap, your personal night sky awakens in a constellation of shimmering stars. For added drama and elegance, optional LED halo lighting casts a soft ambient glow around the perimeter. Each Pure Image star ceiling is precision-built and installed by our certified technicians, guaranteeing a flawless, long-lasting finish.
Design & Engineering: Where Vision Meets Performance
No two rooms are the same — and no two clients want the same thing from their theatre. That’s why we bring equal passion to creative design and technical engineering. Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all plans, we craft fully bespoke home theatres that optimize layout, acoustics and aesthetics for the space and the people who’ll actually use it. The result is a theatre that feels intentional, immersive, and engineered to perform at a level far beyond “good enough.”

Every Pure Image home theatre starts with a fully custom design — engineered around your room’s exact dimensions, sightlines and acoustics before a single cable is run.
Since 2005, Pure Image has earned a reputation for crafting extraordinary media rooms, home theatres and entertainment spaces. Hundreds of satisfied clients attest to the Pure Image Difference — meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to exceeding expectations. We don’t just match commercial theatres, we surpass them, with cutting-edge displays, reference-grade audio and carefully curated accessories that elevate every moment of entertainment.
Design and engineering come together seamlessly in every project. Our team fine-tunes acoustics and optimizes sightlines so every seat delivers the perfect view and sound, while our in-house video calibration specialists and dedicated audio physics experts ensure your theatre is precisely tailored to your room and your lifestyle.
We work side-by-side with you to create an aesthetic that reflects your personal style and architecture. The result is a seamlessly integrated entertainment space – beautifully crafted, visually striking, and perfectly functional.
Installation: Where Precision Meets Craftsmanship
Our seasoned technicians stay ahead of the curve through advanced training and proven installation techniques. We use only premium, performance-tested cabling and components — selected for reliability and clarity, never for marketing gimmicks — so your system performs flawlessly for years to come.

Every installation is tailored to the space, featuring sleek, visually refined equipment racks and flawless wire management. With thousands of projects behind us, our in-house audio/video installers rank among the most skilled in the industry, delivering custom solutions for homes and commercial spaces of every size.
We set uncompromising standards for our installation team — and they surpass them on every project.
Calibration: The Final 10% That Makes All the Difference
Top-tier equipment alone doesn’t guarantee peak performance. Even with flawless wiring and installation, you’re only halfway to a true cinematic experience. Precise calibration — fine-tuning your display, measuring viewing distances, testing sound pressure and equalizing the room’s acoustics — is what separates a good system from an extraordinary one. Without it, images lose their sharpness, audio levels drift out of balance, and the overall impact falls short of its potential.
Display calibration goes far deeper than adjusting brightness and contrast. Our in-house video calibration specialists achieve reference colour accuracy — ensuring what you see matches exactly what the director intended. For projectors this means screen gain analysis, lens alignment and gamma curve adjustment. For HDR content we calibrate across both SDR and HDR colour spaces, with specific attention to Dolby Vision — the format delivering the widest dynamic range and most accurate colour reproduction available in home theatre today.

Audio calibration is equally precise. Speaker alignment ensures sound from every channel arrives at the listening position at exactly the right time — even milliseconds of misalignment creates a diffuse, unfocused soundstage. We measure and correct speaker levels, delay times and frequency response using reference-grade equipment, achieving balanced, enveloping sound that makes you forget you’re listening to speakers at all.
At Pure Image, every installation delivers reference-quality picture and sound — guaranteed. Our Pure Image Plus service goes even further, providing monthly system fine-tuning and proactive maintenance so your theatre performs at its absolute peak.D

Ready to Build Your Private Cinema?

Whether you’re starting from scratch, upgrading an existing system or planning a new build with your architect, our team is ready to help. Every project starts with a conversation — no obligation, no pressure, just an honest discussion about what’s possible.
Common Questions
How much does a home theatre cost?
Professionally designed theatre projects typically start around $25,000 and go up considerably from there for purpose-built private cinemas. What moves the number is room construction, acoustic treatment, seating, whether it’s a projector or a display, the audio system and the level of finish. We design to the space and what you want from it rather than to a package.
Do I need a separate room?
No. A dedicated room gives you the most control, but we build theatres in living rooms, basements, lofts and open-plan spaces. The design changes; the result doesn’t have to.
Projector or large TV — which is better?
It depends on the room, and specifically on how much control you have over daylight. Where light and shading are fully controlled, a projector gives you a bigger image and a genuine cinema feel. Where they aren’t, a large-format display usually performs better in the daytime and stays consistent. We work it out during design, from the lighting, seating layout, viewing distance and how the room is actually used.
What is Kaleidescape, and is it worth it?
A movie server that stores full studio masters rather than compressed streams. Streaming compromises picture and sound to keep file sizes down; Kaleidescape doesn’t, and on a properly calibrated system the difference is obvious. If you care about picture and sound, it’s one of the more noticeable upgrades available.
Do I need soundproofing?
Soundproofing and acoustic treatment are different things, and people often conflate them. Soundproofing stops sound leaving the room — worth doing when the theatre sits near bedrooms or a shared wall. Acoustic treatment controls reflections inside the room, and that one matters everywhere. It’s the difference between a theatre where dialogue is clear and one where you keep reaching for the subtitles.
What is a star ceiling?
Hundreds of fibre-optic strands placed individually in the ceiling to give the effect of a night sky. We handcraft them in Vancouver, tailored to the room’s dimensions. Powered down it reads as a plain black ceiling; with one press the stars come on. Optional LED halo lighting adds a glow around the perimeter.
Why does professional design matter?
Because equipment is the easy part. Listening positions, speaker placement, room geometry, acoustics, lighting and sightlines all decide whether the room performs — and most of them are difficult to change once the room is built. Design work sorts them before installation starts, so sound arrives evenly at every seat rather than just the middle one.
Can a theatre be integrated with lighting and smart home control?
It should be. Being able to bring the lights down before the film and back up afterwards is a large part of what makes a theatre feel like one. We integrate with Lutron, Crestron and Control4, so lighting, shading, audio and video all run together — one press dims the lights, drops the screen and starts the film.
How long does installation take?
A smaller media room can be done in around two weeks. A purpose-built theatre usually takes one to two months from installation through to final calibration. Design and equipment lead times come before that. Our own team handles the whole process rather than coordinating trades.
What happens after installation?
We offer aftercare through our PI+ service plans — regular system tuning, proactive maintenance and support seven days a week. A theatre that’s calibrated on day one and never looked at again drifts; the plans exist so yours doesn’t.
Do you install home theatres in Whistler, Victoria and Calgary?
Yes. We have local teams in all four markets, and we’ll travel elsewhere in Canada for the right project. Installation, calibration and ongoing service are handled the same way in each.
