The idea was simple: we love Ketra. With over 70 patents, Ketra’s full-spectrum Natural Light redefines what lighting in the home should feel like. We encourage everyone to experience it, because it truly transforms both space and lifestyle.

Our showroom is already filled with Ketra lighting, but our last major ceiling space was still outfitted with older fixtures. So, when Lutron announced this groundbreaking new release, we knew immediately: we had to add more Ketra.

The Upgrade: Ordering and Installing Ketra D2 & Rania D2

In 2024, we placed our first order: four Ketra D2 fixtures and four Rania D2 fixtures, fully confident these would become Lutron’s next big bestsellers.

Why Ketra D2?

Ketra D2 is the only two-inch downlight that delivers Ketra’s signature quality of light. Its breakthrough optics and compact aperture let it disappear into the ceiling, keeping the focus entirely on the lighting effect. The trims are crafted from die-cast aluminum and finished with a nearly invisible edge for a clean, flush-to-ceiling look.

Why Rania D2?

Rania D2 introduces an innovative three-channel lighting solution, offering a natural white spectrum unmatched by any other two-inch downlight – except Ketra itself. It features:

▪️Broad spectrum of color temperatures: from 1800K to 5500K
▪️A tool-based hot-aiming system for ergonomic, precise micro-adjustments
▪️Two housing options:
▫️2″ Fixed or Wall Wash – ultra-shallow for tight plenum spaces
▫️3.5″ Adjustable – easily adaptable for future design changes

The Installation: A True Team Effort

After a few delivery adventures and a tight installation timeline, we finally received all the boxes and got to work.

Step 1: Removed the old ceiling and outdated fixtures
Step 2: Mapped out a lighting layout to optimize demos for clients
Step 3: With full teamwork, we completed the entire ceiling transformation in under two weeks

The Pure Image team carefully assembles Ketra D2 and Rania downlights before installing them into the ceiling. This preparation ensures each fixture meets exacting standards for performance and fit, setting the stage for a flawless, high-end lighting experience.

The Result: More Light, More Impact

The new showroom ceiling is brighter, more immersive, and provides a seamless, continuous wash of light a massive upgrade from our previous setup.

As a bonus, we took the opportunity to enhance our audio side too, adding several Wisdom Audio speakers and a subwoofer to complement the new lighting. But that’s a story for another post.

The ceiling is fully installed and freshly painted—ready to showcase the stunning Ketra D2 and Rania downlights. This clean, seamless canvas highlights the sleek design and natural light quality of the fixtures, setting the stage for an immersive lighting experience in the Pure Image showroom.
