CEDIA Expo: the bringing together of thought leaders, influencers, professionals, and industry leaders in the home automation community. CEDIA’s the destination to catch pioneering, breakthrough innovations and see the future of home automation in action. With new products constantly emerging, it’s the ultimate opportunity for us to determine what’s most valuable on the horizon – so we can put our passion for home technologies to use back in the office, by offering the newest and best integrated solutions for our clients. A series of exciting trends in our industry are taking shape so it was great to see them up close and chat to the people behind them!
With CEDIA 2017 set in sunny San Diego, we begrudgingly set sail in search of the latest and greatest technology.
So what was new this year at CEDIA…
Luxeport iPads
It was a big year in terms of product announcements from our partners at Dana Innovations, the company behind Sonance, iPort and Trufig. Their new Luxeport offers an impressive expansion to the line which picks up the best elements of Launchport and Surface Mount (the Luxeport predecessors). Dana Innovations has streamlined function and aesthetics into one package; a protective case that includes the ability to charge
, while mounted, and control your home automation – but in a much more chic design.
This innovative technology charges without wires or cables, while the enlarged size makes for easy viewing and use. Removable, this iPad sleeve can be mounted on the wall in a choice of white, silver and black, or positioned on a table – it’s fully interchangeable between the wall and the table, with the appropriate docking.
Get Creative With Vicoustic
Vicoustic, a company dedicated to acoustic treatment and sound solutions, showcased an amazing catalogue of diffusers and sound treatments. Equally as important as the speakers themselves, these blocks absorb or diffuse sound making them a perfect solution for home cinemas, entertainment areas and commercial environments. Having effective diffusers reduces echo, gives sound a greater depth and dynamic range, and increases the number of “sweet listening spots” in the room. And the best part with Vicoustic’s diffusers? You’re able to use your creative flair in the process – completely customizable to a design of your choice, these blocks assemble together to create unique patterns, and move far beyond merely enhancing the sound performance in the home.
“Whisper-quiet” Lutron Shades
Lutron’s newest offering means you don’t have to take motorised blinds out of the equation, even if you crave peace and quiet. The first “good-looking” product of its kind, these shades combine functionality and style; not only do they look appealing, but they’re also “whisper-quiet”. With an invisible motor, the engineering expertise behind these blinds means they can open and close with minimal sound. While their clean, open-look finish – no boxes, no pockets, no covers – makes them the perfect complement to a sophisticated living space. The performance of these shades, and their polished look to match, far outweigh any competition in the industry.
Discreet mounting solutions with SnapAV
While mounting solutions aren’t the most glamorous thing to think about when it comes to home automation, they can make or break the aesthetics of your home interior. SnapAV’s clever mounting solutions for TVs are designed with clean, simple living in mind – their TV brackets provide strong boxes and containment options in a premium, high end finish. The electrical part of your TV and all the boxes are discreetly hidden with virtually no visible bracket or cosmetic impact to your interior. A versatile addition, these can easily be integrated into your already furnished home – you don’t necessarily need to get a builder involved for the installation.
An Artistic Upgrade: The Frame from Samsung
The Frame from Samsung brings a new meaning to ‘hiding your TV away.’ Long gone are the days of needing cabinets to conceal your technology. Samsung’s latest state-of-the-art TV goes one step further by transforming the off, and normally redundant TV screen, into a beautiful piece of digital artwork. High definition, flat screen, with a new gapless wall mount, this frame from Samsung seamlessly blends in, and is virtually indistinguishable from other artwork on the wall. High tech features have been incorporated so as to recreate an authentic artwork environment – its sophisticated, multi-sensor technology means the image brightness of the artwork can adjust to the light in the room, and the TV has the ability to power on and off dependent on motion in the room. Digital features include an Art Mode; an extensive range of artwork (over 100 in all) revolves around, offering a new artistic perspective, and ultramodern twist to hanging wall art.
Aesthetics considerations are high on the customer agenda in the luxury residential sector. These premium products can easily be incorporated into your home; as professionals in the industry, we’re always happy to offer you the guidance and advice you need.
