The First OLED TVs Due Late 2012
November 08, 2012
The first OLED (organic light emitting diode) TV displays are still expected to reach the market late this year. The Quarterly Global TV Shipment and Forecast Report stated that LG and Samsung’s versions of the technology will debut in “small volumes” by year’s end. Although custom integrators will have access to these initial shipments, many will be used primarily for retail demonstrations. Despite these small initial shipments, the release of OLED sets represents a quantum leap in technology, and will usher in a new era of wafer-thin, ultra-high resolution display panels!
